CKD substantially affects individuals’ quality of life and imposes a significant economic burden on healthcare systems, particularly at advanced stages requiring long-term treatment. Community knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to CKD risk factors play a critical role in disease prevention and early control. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between demographic characteristics, risk factors, and knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to CKD prevention among at-risk populations. Methods: A quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 119 individuals from at-risk groups in the Pasirkaliki Public Health Center working area, Bandung. Participants were selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using the CKD Screening Index questionnaire. Statistical analysis included frequency distribution, independent t-tests, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: Overall, respondents demonstrated limited CKD knowledge (mean = 9.23), positive attitudes (mean = 58.44), and relatively healthy preventive practices. Knowledge was significantly associated with age (p = 0.001), educational level (p < 0.001), and occupation (p = 0.003). Attitudes were significantly related to gender (p = 0.034) and age (p = 0.017), while preventive practices were associated with age (p = 0.003) and education (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Demographic characteristics significantly influence community knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding CKD prevention. Targeted and intensified health promotion strategies that consider these factors are essential to strengthen CKD prevention efforts.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Medical-Surgical Journal of Nursing Research https://www.jurnal.hipmebijabar.com/index.php/jp-kmb/article/view/55 Strategies To Improve Nurse Compliance With Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Bundle Implementation In Intensive Care Units: A Scoping Review 2025-12-27T09:12:48+00:00 Septa Permana permanasepta6@gmail.com Cecep Eli Kosasih cecepelik@gmail.com Ristina Mirwanti listinamirwanti@gmail.com
Background: Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among patients in intensive care units (ICUs). Nurses play a central role in preventing VAP through consistent implementation of evidence-based prevention bundles. Although VAP bundles are widely recommended, suboptimal adherence among nurses continues to contribute to high VAP incidence rates, highlighting the need for strategies that improve compliance. Objective: This scoping review aimed to identify and synthesize interventions designed to enhance nurse compliance with VAP bundle implementation in ICU settings. Methods: A scoping review was conducted using the Population–Concept–Context (PCC) framework, focusing on nurses, interventions to improve VAP bundle compliance, and ICU settings. Electronic databases—including PubMed, Cochrane Library, ProQuest, EBSCOhost, ScienceDirect, ClinicalKey, SAGE Journals, and Google Scholar—were searched for full-text articles published in English between 2016 and 2021. Study selection followed the PRISMA framework. Data were extracted, analyzed, and synthesized narratively. Results: From 945 identified records, eight studies met the inclusion criteria. The reviewed literature identified educational and training programs, experiential learning strategies, interprofessional collaboration, and real-time compliance monitoring dashboards as effective interventions to improve nurse adherence to VAP bundles. Conclusion: Multifaceted interventions, particularly continuous education supported by supervision and monitoring, are effective in enhancing nurse compliance with VAP bundle implementation. Sustained organizational support is essential to improve adherence and reduce VAP incidence in ICU settings.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Medical-Surgical Journal of Nursing Research https://www.jurnal.hipmebijabar.com/index.php/jp-kmb/article/view/56 Occupational Stress And Blood Pressure Among Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers In Bandung: A Cross-Sectional Study 2025-12-27T09:12:03+00:00 Indah Tiara Novelia indahtiaran@gmail.com Herdiman Herdiman hediherdiman@yahoo.co.id
Background: Hypertension is a major global public health problem influenced by a complex interaction of biological, psychological, and social factors, including stress. Individuals working in the informal transportation sector, such as online motorcycle taxi drivers, are at increased risk of psychological stress due to employment uncertainty, extended working hours, and continuous exposure to traffic-related conditions. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between perceived stress levels and blood pressure among online motorcycle taxi drivers in Bandung. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted with 147 respondents selected through random sampling. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), and blood pressure measurements obtained with a digital sphygmomanometer. Data analysis included univariate statistics and bivariate analysis using Spearman’s rank correlation and Chi-square tests. Results: The majority of participants were male (91.8%) with a mean age of 28 years, and 76.9% reported smoking. Most respondents experienced moderate stress (92.5%). Blood pressure assessment showed that 53.1% were categorized as prehypertensive and 40.1% as having stage 1 hypertension. Perceived stress was positively correlated with systolic (p < 0.001; r = 0.462) and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.002; r = 0.258). Smoking behavior and hypertension history were also significantly associated with blood pressure levels. Conclusion: Perceived stress is significantly associated with elevated systolic and diastolic blood pressure among online motorcycle taxi drivers. These findings highlight the need for stress management and lifestyle-based interventions to reduce hypertension risk in informal-sector workers.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Medical-Surgical Journal of Nursing Research https://www.jurnal.hipmebijabar.com/index.php/jp-kmb/article/view/57 Specialized Training In Nursing Education: A Scoping Review Of Implications For Quality Of Care 2025-12-27T09:13:15+00:00 Diwa Agus Sudrajat diwaaguss@gmail.com Tria Firza Kumala tria@gmail.com
Background: Healthcare malpractice remains a critical issue that threatens patient safety and undermines public trust in health systems, particularly within nursing practice. Increasing clinical complexity, ethical challenges, and technological integration have intensified the need for well-prepared nurses. Consequently, nursing education must incorporate effective training strategies to reduce malpractice risk and enhance safe care delivery. Objective: This scoping review aimed to map and synthesize existing evidence on educational strategies for malpractice prevention in nursing education. Methods: The review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and the PRISMA-ScR reporting guidelines. A comprehensive literature search was performed using PubMed, CINAHL, ERIC, and Google Scholar, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. Eligible studies focused on nursing education, malpractice prevention, and specialized or innovative training approaches. Data were systematically extracted, appraised using established tools, and analyzed through thematic synthesis. Results: Fifteen studies met the inclusion criteria. The findings identified diverse educational strategies, including simulation-based learning, gamification, case-based discussions, and digital health technologies. These approaches were associated with improved clinical competence, ethical judgment, and student engagement. However, variability in training duration and limited long-term outcome evaluation were noted across studies. Conclusion: Specialized, evidence-based training within nursing education is essential for reducing malpractice risk and strengthening patient safety. Strategic integration of innovative methods, combined with sustained evaluation, may enhance nurses’ preparedness to address ethical and legal challenges in clinical practice
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Medical-Surgical Journal of Nursing Research https://www.jurnal.hipmebijabar.com/index.php/jp-kmb/article/view/58 Mothers' Sensitivity To Their Infants' Needs: An Exploration Of Influencing Factors In The First Six Months 2025-12-27T09:13:20+00:00 Dewi Srinatania dewisrinatania@gmail.com Bela Desiani beladesiani@gmail.com Agni Laili Perdani agnilailip@gmail.com Agus Hendra agushendra@gmail.com
Background: Childhood 0-6 months is a crucial time period in human development. Data on developmental delays in West Java in 2024 show that around 30% of children in West Java experience developmental delays, with around 80% due to lack of stimulation. Stunting, which is a form of development delay, is also targeted to decrease significantly in West Java, from 21.7% to 14-15% in 2024. The relationship between mother and child is a context of maternal sensitivity. A sensitive mother will respond quickly and appropriately to the needs of the child, provide warm attention, and create a strong emotional bond between mother and child which is an important foundation for the child's future social and emotional development. Objective: to find out what factors can influence maternal sensitivity in babies aged 0-6 months. Method: this research uses quantitative research methods,With a total sample of 113 respondents, the sampling technique in this study used a non-probability sampling technique and the criteria for respondents were mothers who had babies aged 0-6 months using the NACTS (Nursing Child Assessment Teaching Scale) questionnaire. The CVI of maternal sensitivity scale ranged between 0.80 to 1.00. After reviewing the items (N = 36), the S-CVI was 0.87 for clarity and the S-CVI was 0.9 Results: The results show a p-value <0.05 for the variables number of children and family income. From this, it can be concluded that the factors that influence maternal sensitivity are these two variables. Conclusion: Of the several factors that influence maternal sensitivity, namely the number of children and family income are the most influential.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Medical-Surgical Journal of Nursing Research https://www.jurnal.hipmebijabar.com/index.php/jp-kmb/article/view/59 Effectiveness of Animated Educational Videos in Reducing Anxiety Among Hospitalized Preschool Children 2025-12-27T09:13:58+00:00 Agus Hendra agushendra@gmail.com Muhamad Rafhi Yusuf muhamadrafiy@gmail.com
Background: Hospitalization can be a distressing experience for children and frequently triggers anxiety, particularly among preschool-aged children who have limited cognitive and emotional coping abilities. Anxiety during hospitalization may disrupt the healing process, reduce cooperation with medical procedures, and potentially lead to long-term psychological trauma. Therefore, effective non-pharmacological interventions are essential to minimize anxiety in this age group. Animated educational videos have been proposed as a distraction-based intervention to help children cope with stressful hospital environments. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of animated educational videos in reducing anxiety levels among hospitalized preschool children. Methods: A quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design was conducted involving 60 preschool children aged 3–6 years who had been hospitalized for more than two days. Participants were selected using convenience sampling. Children with mild anxiety whose parents provided informed consent were included, while those in critical condition or receiving intensive care were excluded. Anxiety levels were assessed using the Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (SCAS). Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and the Mann–Whitney test. Results: The findings revealed a statistically significant reduction in anxiety levels among preschool children following exposure to animated educational videos (p = 0.000). Conclusion: Animated educational videos are effective in reducing anxiety among hospitalized preschool children and may be implemented as a simple, safe, and non-pharmacological intervention in pediatric nursing practice.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Medical-Surgical Journal of Nursing Research
